Volunteers make the difference. Garrison Area Caregivers is run by volunteers, and all labor needed to operate Dorothy's Rainbow Food Shelf and Dorothy's Rainbow Thrift Store is provided by volunteers. We can always use your help.
Use the links below to open the volunteer calendar for either Dorothy's Rainbow Thrift Store or Dorothy's Rainbow Food Shelf. A name and email address are required to sign up. Your information is not shared outside our organization, and Signup.com will send reminders for the shifts you choose.
If you are confused or having difficulty signing up online, you are welcome to stop in during operating hours of the Food Shelf or Thrift Store. One of the leaders on site can help you get signed up or point you to a person who can help. Dan Nelson is the administrator of Signup.com for GAC, and his contact information is shown on the About Us page.
Occasionally we may send a request for help with a specific event or time slot that is short-handed. Come and help. It is a great way to get involved, meet people, and build community with others who share the common goal of doing good locally.
Food Shelf service runs Tuesdays from 1:00-5:00 pm. Additional signup slots are available for volunteers to help unload and stock truck deliveries. Use Signup.com to see open spots and choose a shift.
Open Food Shelf Volunteer CalendarDorothy's Rainbow Thrift Store is open Thursday through Saturday from 10:00 am-4:00 pm. Additional time slots are available to help sort, wash, price, and stock shelves on Tuesdays when the store is not open.
